Construction at 200 W Santa Fe extends Eastern Seed and Fertilizer to add a grain storage building and warehouse. Larry Jensen says the 359 by 200 foot site will support maize and milo trading with 20 car grain load capacity and aeration. A separate 40 by 42 foot unit will house display windows and retail of seeds fertilizers and chemicals. The firm also leases Batte Hickman offices and public scales as part of the expansion.

Truck Car Wreck on Little River Bridge Sunday
Traffic on Little River Bridge was reduced to one way for about an hour last Sunday after a trailer truck from Ramsey Truck Line rammed into a car driven by Bill McIntosh. Highway patrolman Leroy Broadus said a flat tire forced a stopped vehicle, triggering the jam. The truck driver received a citation for failing to control speed.

Three Defendants Get Probation and Prison Term
District Judge W C Wallace handed down two probated sentences and one penitentiary term last Friday in Milam County District Court. Elbert Lee Barnett of Gatesville received two years in the state penitentiary for felony theft tied to a March 1965 offense. Amon Muston of Rockdale got five years probation for burglary linked to an April 1965 offense. Paul Ray Miller of Rockdale received a three year probation for felony theft. all three were indicted in April 1965 by a Milam County Grand Jury.

Gill Newton a lifelong farmer lovers beauty of life
Milam County resident H G Newton known as Gill despite being deaf for over 50 years and partially mobility impaired after a back injury and a stroke. He tends a large garden and 15 foot flower beds with his Lily dog by his side and a fox terrier in the chair next to him. His carvings and flowers fill his days though he no longer carves due to hand weakness. He lives alone near Maysfield with five children eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
