The Clark and Michalk No. 1 on the W. T. Johnson farm near Thorndale spudded in at 12.02 Tuesday. A modern rig and capable crew with ample water promise steady drilling as oil showings spark local enthusiasm for regional development. Town neighbors root for the home men and wish them success in opening the oil field.
A patent remedy called Freezone claims to relieve corn pain without soreness. A tiny bottle sold by druggists for a few cents supposedly removes hard and soft corns and toe corn and foot calluses, with no irritation.
Irving L. Camp of Johnstown Pennsylvania was unanimously elected president of Lions International at the Miami convention. A coal industry leader he has served as director of civic and charitable groups and is a member of the Methodist Church Masons Odd Fellows and Elks.
The State of Texas issues a writ summoning unknown heirs of Frank McCullough Dora Brewer and R A Risser. The suit seeks $305.28 in delinquent taxes for 1911 12 718 15 16 20 21 22 23 24 25 with interest penalties and costs and foreclosure of liens on one hundred acres out of James McLaughlin grant in Cameron Milam County. The citation requires appearance on the 5th of September 1927 in the Milam County District Court for next term and return of service.
Crockett and Crockett halted operations in Thorndale after finding no market for green corn. They faced losses of about 400 dollars per car as Alabama and Mississippi corn flooded New York buyers. Farmers complain baskets are overflowing and question fair basket weight and price under agreement.
