Fine animals fall prey to sharks near Havana harbor
Havana dispatch reports hundreds of steers aboard the American steamer St Charles stampeded into the sea outside Moro Castle on Saturday. About 800 cattle were believed dead after sharks fed on them. 130 carcasses were found in the hold, prompting sanitary officers to order disposal at sea. Some steers swam ashore and roamed the Havana suburbs.
