Noack Grocery Company shipped two carloads of Milam County potatoes on Thursday June 2 and a third carload last Wednesday to northern markets. Potatoes sold at 1.50 per bushel, a strong price versus past years, with about 1000 bushels in the two cars worth roughly 1500 dollars. Farmers from across the trade area contributed the crop destined for Austin and then to northern markets.
