City Blood Drive Slated To Boost Owed Quota

Cameron lags by 50 units for the year with a Bloodmobile visit planned Tuesday August 5 at the Methodist Fellowship Hall from 12 noon to 6 pm. The quota is 73 units and donors are urged to give a pint to help replace blood for residents and hospital patients through the Red Cross program.

Cloud Construction Co of Temple was named low bidder for the new county tax office at a called commissioners meeting Tuesday afternoon. The bid totals $130,321, the lowest of eight bids. other bidders included BFW Construction of Temple $138,800 and R. B. Butler of Bryan $139,653.

Cameron Boy Hospitalized After Bicycle Collision

An 11 year old Cameron boy Allen Anton Zalesky remained at St Edward Hospital for observation after being struck by a car on North Houston Street Monday at 6 p.m. The driver was Richard Andrew Watkins of Burlington Route 1. He had no serious injuries according to hospital staff.

CSIR in Pretoria lays an underwater electric cable off Margate to form a barrier against sharks. The 13 foot deep line carries up to 7000 amps to repel approaching sharks while swimmers feel only a tingling warning. Net systems protect 40 beaches with 243 nets and have reduced attacks since 1952.
