City permits for June and July totaled 8 8200 with roughly half in commercial and residential improvements. The drive in at Fourth and Travis accounts for 24000 in commercial permits while the parsonage for the Church of Christ at 9th and North Jackson has just been completed. Local builders attribute the rise in remodeling to tighter national credit and higher interest rates but Cameron stores report stronger remodeling activity than larger cities.
