Milam County produced oil and gas worth about $1.7 million with 218 575 barrels of crude oil and 9 259 MCF of natural gas selling for a total value of over $1.7 million. The industry supported 193 workers and paid $79 168 in production taxes. Drilling activity spent about $1.4 million, drilling 20 wells with 8 successful oil wells and 5 wildcat wells, despite 12 dry holes.

Rickie Lynn Halpain 20 of Cameron faces rape and attempted murder charges. Bond set at 10 000 dollars total with 5 000 on each count by Justice of the Peace Jess Brock after his Buckholts arrest following a reported assault on Mary Sharp of Cleburne. The victim was found on a Little River bridge near Cameron with a throat wound and removed clothes. She later said she was thrown into the river.

Red Cross Blood Mobile Set for Cameron July 13

The Central Texas Red Cross blood mobile comes to Cameron on Tuesday July 13 at the Methodist Fellowship Hall from 12 noon to 6 p.m. The drawing quota is 73 units and city goals have been met each time this year. Officials urge continued donor cooperation as summer remains a tough month for donations.

Study Continues On Exposition Barn For County Youth

Junior Livestock Association members will meet Tuesday evening at 8 to discuss building an exposition hall between Tyson and Gillis Streets. Chairman A W McCullin said the cost may reach about 40000 with prefab metal used. The 60 by 100 foot structure will house two buildings a stock show area with a sand floor and a multipurpose section. Alcoa has shown interest in the project.
