Eagle Scout Richard Raymond Saves a Life at Cameron Club

Richard Raymond 14 and fellow Eagle Scout saved Mark Harwell 15 at Cameron Country Club on July 4. Mark, who jumped from the diving board, stopped breathing. Richard began mouth to mouth resuscitation after teammates pulled him ashore. Doctor says Mark is ok.

Cameron Planning Commission Seeks Public Input on Revenue Sharing Projects

The Cameron Planning Commission asks residents for opinions on priority projects to be funded with Federal Revenue Sharing. A survey ballot on page 0 lists city-wide cleanup beautification street improvements garbage disposal fire protection parks police sewage lighting water cultural center. About $20,000 is received each quarter with payments to continue five years.

Collision Wrecks Pickup On SH77

A pickup driven by Charles Kunz of Cameron was demolished in a collision on SH 77 west of Cameron Monday afternoon. Kunz and passenger Pete Kunz of Cameron were uninjured. Henry J. Widner of Huntsville, driver of the other vehicle, was treated at St. Edward Hospital and released. Police reported Kunz traveled east on SH 77 while Widner was on FM 2095.

Library Receives 5800 Grant for Books

The Cameron Public Library received a 5800.95 grant from the Oxsheer Smith Foundation for book purchases. Roy Engram, library board president, said a Book Selection Committee would set a purchase schedule using the funds.

Commissioners Appoint Judges and Discuss Jail Plans

County commissioners appointed election judges for 27 polling places in Milam County and discussed exterior courthouse cleaning and replacing wooden windows with aluminum frames funded by Federal Revenue Sharing. They also considered a storm sewer beside the new jail site and heard Lone Star Life Insurance on employee health options.

Cameron Area Schools Announce 1973 74 Schedule

Cameron area schools publish next year timetable with classes starting August 27 and staff in-service August 20 24. Holidays include Labor Day September 3 Thanksgiving November 22 23 Christmas break ends January 3 1974 Easter break April 12 15 1974 and Yee Day May 9. Graduation to be set by Yoe High principal.
