Baptists To Hold Revival In Cameron July 14 21

The First Baptist Church in Cameron will observe pastor Aubrey F Russell's sixth year with a week long revival from July 14 to 21. J H Asher directs music and education guiding the singing. Deacons announce the theme Church Family Revival and invite the public to daily services at 7 am and 8 pm starting Sunday.

The Brazos River Authority will hold a public meeting in Austin on July 16 to hear pros and cons of the Six Dam Program. Gov. Price Daniel backs public record of opinions. directors meet July 15 with a special session July 16 to review water users and pending federal legislation.

VFW Post Holds July 2 Meeting At Ledbetter Park

VFW Post 2010 met July 2 at Ledbetter Park with 30 members present for initiation ceremonies. Commander Hendricks led the ritual team that administered obligations to seven members: Raymond Green Alfred Selner Wallace Small John C Komar John Houston Charles Manning and Joe N Louis. Dr Walter Plocek Jr Vice Commander Pete Mikula Chaplain H B McClellen and Bob Bennett assisted. Post Commander Ed Longhoffer reported on a successful flax esle drive sold by Boy Scout Troop 52. District Commander Harrison praised the post and noted its strong record and citation progress. A barbecue followed the program.

New Brushy Creek Water District to Hold Bond Vote

The Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District No 1 schedules a $145000 bond election for Saturday July 27 to finance its formation. Voters decide between bond issue or government loan with a $5000 preliminary bond authorized and a district tax levied. Twelve precincts for voting across Williamson and Milam counties.

Hearing Postponed On Restraining Order

Counsel for Mayor Weems and the city agreed to a later hearing date after the death of Weems sister Mrs Willie Fulton in an auto accident near Belton. The court will decide whether to dismiss the order or set a temporary injunction that could halt city work for months. District Judge O D Gatham granted a temporary restraining order to stop work on a 16 inch abate along South Washington claimed by Weems.

Milam Swine Tour Set To Begin Friday Schedule

The annual Milam County swine tour starts 8 am Friday at Cameron Post Office. Bennie K Whiteside says the group will tour the Sears swine program and breeders including Lerran, Mueck, Winfrey, Cargill, Glaser, Jungmann, Moran, Richter, Jistel and others with lunch at Buckholts.

Cemetery Homecoming Planned by Marlow Association

The Marlow Cemetery Association will hold its annual homecoming at 10 30 a m Sunday at the Marlow Baptist Church with a noon basket dinner and a program by the Milam County Singing Convention around 2 p m A business meeting is set for 8 p m tomorrow at the Marion Baptist Church Officers include Morris Coward president H L McClaren vice president Lenora Bicket secretary treasurer and several committee members.

Scout Executive Assumes Duties in Milam Area

Burts J. Kennedy 24 of Brownwood named Milam County area scout executive for Heart Of Texas Council. He will relocate to Cameron once housing is found and discussed local scouting needs with Cameron enthusiasts. Kennedy is an Army Medical Corps veteran with 10 years of service and has held multiple leadership roles in scouting.

Polls Open Tuesday on Cameron Parking Meters

About 1090 city voters may cast ballots on 276 Cameron parking meters to decide whether they stay or go. City Hall will be open 7 am to 7 pm with B J Matocha as election judge and Dan Gunn, Mrs John Ryan, and Mrs R W Bennett assisting. Officials expect a light vote with limited campaigning from both sides.

Farm Bureau Extends Queen Contest Entry Time

Milam County Farm Bureau extends entry deadline to 5 p.m. Friday for the annual queen contest at Simon-George Hall on July 25. Secretary Lenora Bickett notes last year saw about 12 entrants but only three retired entries. contestants will be judged on poise personality and appearance and must speak on a Farm Bureau related topic.

Braves Edge Into Little League Lead

The Little League Braves moved into first place after a string of wins while the Indians slipped to second. In a Monday night doubleheader the Yankees topped the Indians 13 to 46, and the Braves crushed the White Sox 26 to 5. Cook led the Braves with three singles and two homers, while L. Lattere scored three times.

City Couple Plans Knight To Japan

Mr and Mrs Jack Cammer Cameron plan a five week journey to Tokyo Hawaii and Wake Island. They will depart Fort Worth for San Francisco then an ocean voyage to Japan visiting their daughter Mrs John Adama. Dispatches will be sent to the Cameron Herald detailing impressions from the trip with a 27 hour nonstop flight and a brief Hawaii layover.

Hughes Recovering From Cycle Injuries

Dwight Hughes son of Mr and Mrs Stanley Hughes is recovering in an Austin hospital from injuries after a motorcycle crash about 4 pm June 30. The 1967 Yar High School graduate was thrown about 50 feet, suffered a broken right hand and cheekbone, and underwent surgery to set the cheekbone. He and his father were involved with another Dallas rider group and were leaving races 10 minutes before the collision. release is anticipated this weekend.

IOOF Grand Master to Visit Cameron

Raymond Gage grand master of the 1IOOF Lodge of Texas will visit Cameron IOOF Lodge 70 for a 7 p.m. Monday event.
