Tucker Seeks Time and Bank Records in Audit Case

District Court hears petition filed by J. C. Tucker and attorneys W. A. Morrison Sr. and Jr. requesting more time to complete Cameron State Bank audit and access additional documents. Previous hearing denied part of the records. Seventeen indictments were returned in May charging embezzlement and false entries related to a December 1931 bank closure.

Phone Rate Decrease Sought In Waco By 1000 Subscribers

Waco city commissioners were to hear petitions from 1000 Southwestern Bell Telephone customers requesting lower rates. City Manager E. E. McAdams believed the company would cut prices, while the firm said it has operated at a loss in Waco and lost 1200 subscribers in two years.

Will Caldwell Dies Suddenly Wednesday at 62

Will Caldwell 62 died suddenly at Milano Wednesday afternoon at 1 36 from a heart attack while returning to gravel work on highway construction after lunch. He had long lived in Cameron and was born in Williamson County in 1870. Funeral services were held July 7 at the Presbyterian church with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Coleman Eplen Funeral Home handled arrangements. He was a member of the Christian church and is survived by his widow and several children.

Catholic Insurance Convention Set for Cameron July 13

About 150 delegates are expected to attend the State Convention of the Catholic Insurance Union in Cameron on Wednesday July 13. The five day session will meet at National Hall with B A Matocha Cameron City Attorney presiding at the Marak centennial celebration. T H McGregor of Austria will deliver an address and Rev Kacer pastor at Marak will speak Bohemian in the afternoon. Firemen Defeat Westphalia Farmers 4-1 in Midweek Win

Cameron Firemen beat the Westphalia Farmers 4 to 1 as Everett Peel allowed five hits. Key scoring came in the first, third and fifth innings with contributions from Pep Young Archie Peel and McDonald. Cameron left ten on base while Farmers stranded three and blamed for a fielding miscue.

Fourth of July Legion Celebration Draws Big Crowd in Cameron

A large Cameron crowd enjoys a three day Fourth of July program by the local Legion post. Events include carnival attractions, rodeo at Lawless Green field with wild jack rabbit roping, calf roping and goat roping contests, wild cow milking, a speech by Van Moody advocating Governor Sterling’s re election, and a big fireworks display. Net proceeds are expected to reach two to three hundred dollars.
