Boll Weevil Threat to Milam Cotton Farmers

Boll weevil damage continues to threaten cotton near Cameron with fields north and south of the town showing active weevils. An untreated field near Rockdale had 55 percent squares punctured, while a field west of Cameron showed 20 percent in an untreated plot versus zero in a treated one. Early poisoning shows promise. farmers should weekly check fields by counting 100 squares and apply poison if 25 or more are punctured, then recheck after five days.
