Buried Treasure Legend of the San Gabriel Mission
Legend from Milam county recounts a murdered priest at San Gabriel along with a solid gold cross and a pot of gold buried at the site. The tale follows a Mexican and an Irishman named Mike Welch who dig for treasure, uncover a priest skeleton and crucifix, then lose the cross and treasure after a theft at dusk.
