OPA Sets Proposed Price Ceiling for 1946 Cotton
The OPA announces formal notice of proposed ceilings for the 1946 raw cotton crop. If prices stabilize before harvest, ceilings may not be imposed. The 15-16 inch middling Upland grade could have a 24.09 cent per pound ceiling for area one in the western Carolinas, reflecting parity plus transportation and cushion for future parity shifts. Premiums rely on government-reported differentials and the notice was approved by the Agricultural Department.
