The ceremony united J. B. Rector and Lula Mae Hefley as husband and wife in Cameron amid a springlike setting. Ushers Hubert Hefley and J. Joseph assisted. A later home wedding for Wm. Charles S. Rather died in Morgan after an 18 day illness. Born August 1, 1861 in Holly Springs Mississippi, he married Maud Wyman of Pea Hutch Ky in 1896. He moved with his family to Texas August 1, 1890, lived six years in Gonzales, then ten years in Cameron.
G W Chapman of Yarrelton set fire to dry grass near his barn. The blaze spread rapidly consuming the barn and 300 bushels of corn and 100 bales of hay. Fire caused over 250 dollars in losses, with no insurance. Chapman could not save the barn as wind and drought worsened the blaze while Dr Monroe’s property was involved.
