William Tamp Johnson, 87, of San Gabriel, died after a one car crash on FM 486 near Thorndale at 11:30 a.m. He was taken to Johns Hospital in Taylor where he died at 2:45 p.m. from head and chest injuries. He lost control and struck a washed out hole. funeral services were held at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor with burial in Locklin Cemetery. Constable Bill Shepard assisted in the investigation.

Cameron Independent School tax collector Oliver Chamberlain announced an extension for school tax payments to midnight January 30 due to January 31 falling on a Sunday. The usual deadline is January 31 but penalties and interest apply after January 30. Only 62.5 percent of taxes were paid by January 13.

Proposed Cotton Acreage Rule Affects Milam County Farms
