Pioneer Texan and frontier marshal J E Holtzclaw dies at 84
J E Holtzclaw 84 native Texan and pioneer peace officer died at his Cameron home at 7 a m Monday January 17 1944 after a stroke. He served as a city marshal in Belton Rockdale Cameron and Milam county sheriff. Funeral at 2 p m Tuesday from his daughter's home with burial in Sharp cemetery. Surviving are his widow and daughter Judd G Davis. Son Elmer died in 1917.

Emory B Camp a Milam county lawyer and civic leader will report to the Navy soon after passing his physical and selecting induction. He has led Milam County Defense Council since 1941 and spoken at Rotary War Loan events. Camp co-owns Camp Baskin Insurance with Gordon Baskin, who has served in the Pacific fleet.

R W H Kennon former Editor of The Cameron Herald and Rockdale Reporter died in Cisco at 1 a m Wednesday January 19 1944 after a pneumonia attack He was in Ranger hospital Funeral services were set for January 20 in Ranger with interment in Cisco cemetery Kennon was uncle of Ben Kennon Cameron and brother of the late C B Kennon He founded the Rockdale Reporter more than 40 years ago and previously edited The Herald.

Mrs Emma Peschel Dies in Rosebud at 74
Mrs Emma Peschel died January 5 1944 at 3 00 pm in a local hospital Rosebud after about seven months illness. She was born near New Ulm Austin county and lived near Rosebud 80 years. Survived by two sons E H Peschel Burlington and E W Peschel Rosebud two brothers Henry Stalbaum Robin son and Willie Stalbaum Columbus eight grandchildren one great grandchild. Services at Burlington Lutheran Church conducted by Rev Robert Kalkbrenner with burial in Burlington Church Cemetery.

Henry Senkel Dies Suddenly in Buckholts at 69
Henry Senkel aged 69 of Buckholts died Tuesday morning from a heart attack while helping unload a car of wheat near the depot. Survived by his wife, daughter Mrs Lex Daniels of Little River, sons Fritz of Buckholts and Edward of Rogers, and five grandchildren. W. R. Skinner funeral home in Rogers handling arrangements.
