The OJT Thomas Jr. High band and Gary Beach led a record setting year with city park concerts, Mexican Fiesta and Christmas parade appearances. Twirlers earned division I and II ratings at ILTW, while the Jr. High band placed II at UIL marching in Hillsboro.

Arbor Day Program Inspires Civic Garden Club
The January meeting of the Civic Garden Club at Mrs. Leo Fuchs’s home featured a program titled Trees of the Bible by Mrs. W. M. Fanning. Sue Raley, director of Childhood Education in Duncanville, presented slides from a Holy Land trip and distributed pressed flower frames to members. The club voted $3 for the Bicentennial Liberty Tree plant on the Capitol grounds and re-elected officers for 1976 1977. Members invited included Mrs. John F. Fry and Miss Mary Fanning with YHT state convention notes and speakers outlined for January in Houston.
