The Spirit of America and the Cooperative Economy
A concise essay argues that voluntary cooperation and individual initiative drive American prosperity. It describes labor as the daily living, the rise of self-reliant settlers, and the nation as a vast cooperative mechanism where agriculture, manufacturing, and services interdependently sustain all citizens. It highlights liberty, initiative, and the dangers of enforced cooperation. It notes cotton manufacture as a major enterprise.
