Mrs. Josephine Stiles 71 widow of A W Stiles of Thorndale died Tuesday afternoon January 14 at 8 40. She leaves five sons Wilford Elver Grady Graham J Donavan and J Donavan Stiles and two daughters M H Logan and H H Stedman plus eight grandchildren and one sister. Funeral at 2 p m Wednesday from her daughter’s home with Rev J W Mills, interment Pleasant Retreat cemetery. She was a member of the Christian Church and had lived in Cameron seven years.

Three Held for Store Robbery Near Milano
Three youths aged 17 to 23 were captured Saturday afternoon in the timber belt near Milano after robbing the J. D. Peeples store Friday night. Harold Owen and Walter F. Yewchuk, both 20 and 23 respectively, are on parole from Elmira Reformatory New York, while Robert Cornell, 17, is from Missouri. Police and sheriffs deputies traced them from a freight train bound for El Paso, arresting them about 1.5 miles from Milano. They allegedly took pants shoes canned goods a bolt of ducking and $1 in cash. They planned to catch a freight westward Saturday night.

County Judge Oscar H. Phillips 42 of Brazoria County died in a Marlin hospital at 10 a.m. Saturday from influenza complications. Born in Milam County he served a second term since 1941. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Marlin Baptist Church. Interment in Marlin Cemetery. Survived by widow, son Oscar Hampshire Phillips, father J. T. Phillips, sister Mrs Frank Prideaux, and six brothers.
