Knowles Acts Draw Weaker Audience Last Week

The Knowles again appeared at the Auditorium on Thursday and Saturday evenings but failed to draw the crowds seen at prior dates. Their demonstrations remained as laughable as before with little program change. Dudley Wooten spoke in Congress last week supporting the Nicaragua canal and received applause. R. M. Love announced as a candidate for re election to comptroller.

Boll Weevil Ravages Across Texas Counties

The Galveston-Dallas News reports extensive cotton damage from the boll weevil across Texas. Estimates cover 28 Coast District counties, 39 North Texas, 26 Southwest Texas, 41 Central Texas, and 20 East Texas counties, with 55 counties affected overall and a total loss of 242,500 bales. Williamson and several towns describe the weevil’s late-season impact on top and late bolls, while river counties and certain districts show the worst infection and fear for next year. A Cameron hospital note records the death of C. B. Marsh at age 44 following a long illness and prior injuries.
