Cameron voters gear up for the biennial election on February 9. Interest centers on the marshal storm center and the tax assessor and collector race, while few candidates have announced for aldermen or other city offices. Officials may seek reelection, and council races attract little attention due to perceived burdens.
The Teas State Bank and Trust Company at Cameron reports deposits of $261,421.16 to the Austin commissioner, a dramatic rise since it began less than a year ago with $103,572.68 on May 9 1925. Cash on hand stands at $142,434.48 under the leadership of President H M Herley and Cashier J L Clinton. Deposits by date show steady growth through 1925 from $103,572.68 to $261,421.16.
Ore Johmn Denson J A Bell S M Burns Jr Harvey Dot bik Gene W H Henley J C Martin and Misses Mabel and Lily Mas Jeter traveled to Rockdale Monday afternoon for a County Baptist Workers Council gathering.

B Slocomb announces his candidacy for City Marshal in the February 4 primary. Former deputy to Sheriff L L Blaylock and former cotton businessman, he pledges firm law enforcement and traffic supervision without favors if elected.
Fred B. Cable, cashier, reports in a December 31 statement to the comptroller of the currency that First National Bank deposits total $628,628.92. The bank’s condition, noted as stronger than the prior period, reflects community strength and adequate resources.

Evangelist A B McReynolds assisted by his Fort Worth sister Miss Annabel Hall holds a Cameron Christian Church revival. He will preach a unique sermon on The Most Popular Sin In Cameron using audience submitted cards to discuss the sins. Readings include Heathens in our Cameron Churches and Life's Eternal Storm-Cellar with a closing sermon based on the card findings.
The Business and Professional Women's Club opened its year with a banquet at the First Methodist Church basement. Miss Susan Pope chaired, a program included music by the Cameron Municipal Band, a reading by Kathleen Baggett, and an address by ex mayor J. B. White on New Year revolutions. The talk traced women's history and progress, noting shifts with Christianity and 17th century French movements.
The grand jury convened Monday but, lacking any matter to investigate, adjourned at the judge's chambers. It marks a historic moment, possibly unique, with no findings or actions to report.

Citizens National Bank reports total resources of 1,526,262.89 with deposits of 1,172,688.62 and cash that is quickly available exceeding 800,000. Established in 1906, it is a U S Government depository led by President O M Smith whose policy outlook is praised amid the Depression era.
The Square Drug Store changes hands with E L Turner and J J Avera purchasing from Dr G E Sutton. Sutton, former city sanitary officer, moves to Waco to run a cat and dog hospital. Turner and Avera also operate Star Products Company.
Heavy precipitation of up to three inches over Milam County last weekend boosts crop prospects and insurance uptake. Farmers expect better yields as credit conditions improve and merchant holiday trade supports a brighter economic outlook.
Decker Motor Company announces dramatic price cuts on Dodge automobiles and Gra BY Trucks with Aug Gurecky as manager and Pope Say as sales manager. The Cameron Herald first to display the new pricing and the B sedan leads the reductions. All cars bought since December 14 receive the new price.
John Setcik and Frivs Rechetaky were taken to the state penitentiary on Tuesday by Sheriff J L Blayies to serve one year for violating the liquor laws. They pleaded guilty and received one year sentences. EC Persky of Bac Cameron subscribed for the Herald. D W Humphries, of Persky farm, was named as resident. Bethen have been in West Texas for weeks in work and returned to Milan County to prepare. Ernest Knipp, Kathryn Robbins’ brother and Harris County assistant attorney, visited Cameron and returned home in Ho.
Charles Smith formerly a janitor at the courthouse and recently from Lemon Cove California arrived in Cameron last week to spend several days among the local stone and Cameron Henee artists work.
