New County Officials Take Oath In Milam
Milam County officers and precinct officials were sworn in Tuesday January 1 in a county court room ceremony. New sheriff Max Kennedy and deputy Dan Gunn joined by several department heads took offices. updates include county treasurer R A Devers and assistant Mrs House, district attorney Emory B Camp, county judge Jeff T Kemp, and others across precincts. One notable death: Buckholts businessman Thomas Blinka 67 died from a heart attack. Clint Lewis Jr., son of Burleson County Sheriff, remained unconscious after a car crash near Milano leaving four others injured.

Ben Lowenstein 34 a Rockdale native died in a Waco hospital on Christmas Day after injuries from a street collision near his home weeks earlier. Son of pioneer merchant Joe Lowenstein he was born and raised in Rockdale. Funeral services were held in Rockdale Thursday December 27 with more details to follow next week.

Death of John Paseman in Cameron prompts funeral
John Paseman age 20 died December 8 in Cameron after a four week illness including appendicitis and pneumonia. He was born in Leipzig Germany September 11 1905 and came to Sedgwick Kansas as a child. Survived by widow Julia Heintze two children Agnes Marie and Johnny Jr his parents Walter and Mrs William Paseman of Sedgwick Kansas three siblings and two brothers in Oregon. Funeral Friday September 20 at St Monica's church with burial in Catholic Cemetery.

A thief stole Dr Kibra Monroe’s Ford V-8 coupe from a Fort V-8 garage Friday night. It was found Saturday on Milano Road east of the river, wheelless except for the chassis. Two rear wheels from a Frank Monroe Ford V-4 were also taken the same night. Police say arrests have been made in one case and investigations continue.
