Pistol Farming Corinth Dates From 1830s
Corinth north of Buckholts grew into a farming community noted for early methods and a frontier family history. David Curry rode with cap and ball pistols for protection while his father Thomas built barrels. The Currys tied land grants to 1825, cultivated horses and cattle, planted a peach orchard, and sourced salt from Freeport. A fort at Bryant Station sheltered settlers, and the Rogers family helped found Corinth’s school and Methodist church around 1870. The town name emerged from Mike Rogers Sr and the Buckholts area later formed around J. D. Lewis descendants and Judge Buckholts.
