Funeral services for A F Robinson son of Hanover were held Sunday afternoon January 30 at Liberty Community Church. Robinson died January 29 after a three week illness in a local hospital. He was born June 1 1876 in Cedar Springs Community near Troy Abbeville County South Carolina and moved to Texas in 1897 settling in Hanover. He served as Postmaster for many years and worked in farming and merchandising for thirty five years. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery.
The obituary notes A. R. Robinson enriched South Carolina schools and joined A. R. Presbyterian Church in youth. Survived by wife 1929, two sons Kelly and Joe Robinson of Hanover, two daughters Mrs. L. J. Starr Irving and Mrs. W. J. Ditto Hanover, two brothers D. F. Robinson Minerva and B. E. Robinson Houston, a sister Mrs. C. S. Terry Cameron, and seven grandchildren. Many out of town friends attended the funeral.
The Texas Research Foundation urges topdressing wheat and small grains with 33 pounds of nitrogen per acre starting Feb 15. Yields increased up to 82 bushels per acre at Renner. Equivalent fertilizer amounts are given for ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, and anhydrous ammonia.
Jones Prairie Home and Garden Club met on Tuesday February 1 with Mrs E B Yager hosting. Mrs Robert Glenn demonstrated hot pie pastry and shared pie recipes to 12 members and one guest Mrs W B Burnett newly welcomed. Pecan pie coffee and ice tea were served. Leonard Winn sustained third degree burns to his legs after pouring kerosene into a wood curv and striking a match at 306 Scott Street at 9 45 p m Monday The blast shattered the three room house windows set clothing on fire and caused property damage to the Wents and Mrs W T Whatley He was treated at a local hospital and later moved to McClesky Hospital in Temple His injuries are linked to heart disease risk factors discussed by a physician and Heart Fund backed medical research.
