Alvin C. Nolte of Cameron now serves in the United States Army Air Corps in the Solomon Islands of the South Pacific. A former assistant cashier at Citizens National Bank, Cameron, he volunteered for service after an initial Navy attempt. Nolte trained at Camp Crowder and Barksdale, has over a year in the Pacific, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Nolte.

Two young men one a soldier and one a civilian were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Carl C Black after entering hotel guest rooms and stealing money and a wrist watch. Sgt. James Thurston Harris, 32, Field Artillery, US Army, killed in action in Italy. A War Department telegram to his mother Mrs. J. D. Harris of Curry confirmed the death after more than a year of combat starting in Africa, Sicily and Italy.
