Jones Prairie H D Club elects officers at December meeting
Mrs S M Harrell hosted the H D Club in Jones Prairie on Tuesday December 20. The Yale themed room featured a lighted Christmas tree and gifts for members. Mrs Robert Glenn announced committees for the coming year with Mrs E B Yager outgoing president. First meeting of year set for January 10 with Mrs J H Burnett hosting. About 23 attendees enjoyed pecan pie and coffee. Also noted were holiday visits by Mr and Mrs A H Patzke to relatives in Houston and extended Jones family gatherings.

Buick Debuts Jetback and Tourback Models in Special Series
Buick unveils Jetback and Tourback designs across four door sedans and two door coupes, with convertible Riviera and Estate Wagon options. Deluxe models join the Special Series for the first time, and the Duraflow transmission remains standard on Roadsters and optional on others. Since 1948 Dynaflow rollout, about 350000 torqe converters installed and roughly 70 percent of Buicks in 1949 used them.

The front end with grille and bumper shortens overall length across Super and Roadmaster models. The new F-263 V8 with Dynaflow delivers 128 bhp at 3600 RPM, up from 120, plus higher compression. Brake horsepower rises to 122 for Special and 152 for Roadmaster. overall lengths adjust slightly across models.
