Marlin First State Bank robbed of $41,000 early Wednesday. Bandits tied bank officials to trees near Val Verde in Milam county and fled at night in a Ford V-8. Captives Bradshaw Peyton and Humphrey were later freed. sheriff and deputies blocked possible routes westward.

Five Killed in Train Wreck Near Calvert
Five men died when a Missouri Pacific freight train derailed near Calvert after a collision with livestock. Victims identified as engineer R J Delhomme 48 fireman Fred Wallace 45 and brakeman Otis Green 47 all of Mart plus two unidentified hoboes. Wreck recovered bodies as engine and cars left rails.
