Herald To Print Viet War Stories By Fowler

Funeral Rites Held Sunday For F. Davis

Frank J. Davis former Cameron resident died December 18 at his Bastrop home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. at Marek Surns Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gerald Dickerson officiating. Burial followed in Bell Plains Cemetery. Born June 15, 1884, he was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife Julia M. Davis of Bastrop. three sons Julius of Odessa Oscar of Temple and Alvin of Rockdale. two daughters Lillie Mae Corbin of Belton and Myrtle Wusterhausen of Bastrop. one brother Will Davis of KE Campo. 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Herman Wusterhausen Bobby Davis Charles Davis Milton Bowen Delbert Davis and Dudley Sheffield.

Chaplain James E. Flinn Awarded Airman's Medal

Air Force Chaplain Captain James E. Flinn received the Airman's Medal for bravery in Vietnam. He risked his life to disarm an armed serviceman barricaded in a room at Nha Trang, persuading the man to surrender and seek medical help amid gunpoint danger.

Schiller Appointed to Interim Committee on Agriculture Laws

In Austin Speaker Ben Barnes announced Rep. Milton Schiller of Cameron will join the Interim Committee to Study Laws Related to Agriculture. Schiller, elected in 1962, serves as chairman of Contingent Expense and sits on Agriculture Livestock Revenue and Taxation and Rules committees.

Martinez Baby Dies Services Held Saturday

Funeral services for Mebe Ann Martinez six month old daughter of Rev and Mrs Rogelio Martinez were at Green Funeral Home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev William Permer of San Gabriel officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Waelder at 2 30 p.m. She died Thursday night in a Temple hospital. Survived by parents two brothers Joshua Tito and two sisters Tabitha Robbie Ruth all of Cameron.

Maddox Files for Milam County Treasurer in May Primary

Charlie Bubba Maddox of Cameron filed for county treasurer under the May 14 Democratic primary per Milam Democratic chairman Max McClaren. He is the first to file while the current treasurer Ida Johns will not seek re election. Other Milam county offices up for reelection in 1966 include district clerk Grady Allen county judge Don Humble county clerk Wayne Wieser county superintendent H D Maxwell and county surveyor J B Earle. The district prospects cover new Legislative District 27 and the Milam Bell McLennan Senate District with incumbents Milton Schiller and Murray Watson. Precinct offices for commissioners and eight justices of the peace also appear on the ballot. McClaren noted forms are being mailed to incumbents and others may contact him at 1202 East 16th Cameron.
