Explosion Near Fatal To Young Farmer One Year Old

Durrell Co. Matyastik aged one year was killed when he fell from a truck near Clarkson. He was the son of Mr and Mrs John Matyastik. Funeral services were held at 10 o clock Thursday at his grandfather Paul Matyastik s home in Cameron. Rev J P Love conducted the service. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Young Farmer Blinded After Carbide Tank Explosion

John Richter, 20, is in Camer on Hospital after a carbide lighting tank exploded at his Salem area farm Wednesday morning. His condition is critical with both eyes blinded and permanent blindness feared. The tank burst when he refilled it, blasting him in the face and causing serious burns before doctors stabilized him.

Milam County Sees Increased Civil Works Quota

The Civil Works Administrator increases Milam County quota to 839 men, 256 more than initial allotment, while 4200 registered workers await placement. Additional up to several hundred may join by December 22 if current workers volunteer to share shifts. Projects include Little River clearing, River project supervision by W D Bigbee, and planned river and creek clearing across multiple sites. Sewing and a wood cutting relief program begin, with aliens barred from Civil Works.

Water Dam Work Halted Pending Bond Sales in Texas

Woolley Acquitted in Wife’s Death Murder Trial

Toy Woolley a 28 year old Dallas accountant was acquitted by a Dallas jury in the murder trial tied to the death of his 20 year old wife Dorothy Joynes of Cameron. Woolley testified the shooting was accidental claiming the gun fired while he cleaned it. Dorothy died of a heart wound in the couple’s home with one eyewitness sister of Woolley.

Milam county clears stream beds starting at Cannon Snap Creek under W D Bigbee with a project budget near 400000. Milam County Health Survey Launched By State Official

J B Walker of the State Department of Health begins a Milam county health survey as part of the civic works program. He is appointed supervisor for sanitation and will lead women from the OWA. Cooperation is urged for a complete survey. workers will assist in pit toilet construction with contact through the Civil Works Administration offices.

Hertenberger Dies at Home near Cameron

Maurice Hertenberger died Sunday evening at his mother's home near Cameron after a Hungering ines. Funeral Tuesday at St Monica's Church with burial in Catholic cemetery. Born in Austria May 6, 1875 he farmed in the United States. survived by wife and three sons. Pioneer Martha Rogers Dies at 80 in Cameron

Mrs. Martha Rogers 80, a Bell and Milam county pioneer, died Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Cameron at the home of Judge and Mrs. Jeff T. Kemp. Born September 10, 1844 in Brazon county, she married Major J. C. Rogers in 1868 and lived in Cameron for over 65 years. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Kemp home.
