Matula Out With Hospital Admission For Regional Game
John Matula Yee half back will miss Friday's regional game in Temple after an appendicitis attack Monday. He was taken to St Edwards Hospital and expected to undergo surgery. Matula starred against Gatesville with 70 rushing yards on two attempts. coach Leo Jackson voiced gloom over the injury.

Officers Check Up on Series of Burglaries
Officers in two counties investigated a string of burglaries on Wednesday. The Walter Marek grocery in Burlington was robbed with about 15 dollars taken through a transom. In Rosebud the T and No depot and a cafe were damaged but no loot found. The McAfee Motor Company, a hardware store in Lott, and a Plymouth car stolen from a Marlin parking lot were also reported.

Cotton crop estimated at 11,694000 bales by Agriculture
The Agriculture Department's year end report pegs this year's cotton crop at 11,694,000 bales of 500 pounds. The figure rises 189,000 bales from last month’s estimate of 11,505,000. Last year the crop totaled 8,640,000 bales.

The Cameron chapter of the Save the Children Federation opens a dental clinic funded by local and Bryan area contributions totaling 108 dollars. Organizations including the Business and Professional Women Club Three Arts Club Lions Club History Club and Delphian Club contributed with Rockdale groups adding fifteen dollars. Edith Dukes Milam County Health Nurse screens students and issues dentist slips for needy children. A clothing project is planned though no building is yet secured. Area supervisor is Mrs J R Hillman of Bryan.

Cameron Seaman Sees Venice On Current Voyage in Old World
Cameron Seaman, son of Mrs. T. J. Brock of Cameron, is serving as first class seaman aboard the destroyer USS Zellars. He has visited Venice and Trieste during a Mediterranean port tour with Destroyer Squadron 2. Zellars crew spent time in Venice’s modern shops described as the city for canals and gondolas.
