Texas Quail Outlook From P&W Below Average Statewide
Texas Parks and Wildlife officials say quail numbers will range from average to very poor across regions. Western Texas shows some promise for blue quail in the Permian Basin and Edwards Plateau, while Panhandle and Trans-Pecos regions may fare worse. South Texas faces scarce birds and dense undergrowth, with bobwhite numbers about half of last year. Eastern areas offer spotty hunting but normal blues, and Southeast Texas reports higher coastal counts with late inland hatch results.
