Old Santa Claus to Visit Cameron Friday Afternoon

Old Santa Claus, in person, will visit Cameron Friday afternoon with candy and entertainment for all ages. His troupe includes Toto and Laffo the clowns, Jumbo the elephant, and a real tiger. He will be signing autographs and taking letters about 3 o clock under the Chamber of Commerce auspices.

Milam County Farmer J J Kirk Dies At 71 In Cameron

J J Kirk a Milam county farmer died Sunday morning at 1 40 in a local hospital from pneumonia at age 71. Funeral services were held Monday at his son Jesse Kirk's home in Cameron with ministers from Rosebud and Cameron officiating. Burial followed in Liberty cemetery. Surviving are eleven children, thirty eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His wife Addie preceded him in death and two sons, Bob and Charley, also died. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Cameron and the Woodmen of the World.

Aged Milam County Woman 99 Passes At Home

Milam county's oldest resident Mrs Martha Smith died at her Salty Creek home near Rockdale aged 99. She was born in Grimes county. Her father William Walker was Milam's first judge.

Dave McLane Shot In Leg In Accident Here Monday Morning

Dave McLane special officer and night watchman at the Robert McLane Company was accidentally shot in the right leg below the knee when his gun dropped from its holster as he built a fire in the Schiller Motor Company office. The wound is serious but the prognosis is for recovery without amputation. Mrs Georgie Stephens state health nurse was Cameron visiting county nurse Miss Pearl Fulerod this week.

Dr J C Herring Buried After Long Texan Life

Dr J C Herring 75 longtime Milam County physician and Burlington postmaster died of a heart stroke Monday in Cameron after being moved from Burlington. Born in Woodville Texas he practiced medicine 22 years and leaves a widow and children including Carlton Herring of New York and Mrs Joe Marek of Abilene. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Little River Church with burial in Cameron authorities.

No Kiss Alleged as Cause in Auto Crash

Miss Dorothy Bellows sought $1,000 damages after a collision that her claim alleges resulted from a refusal of a kiss and a poke in the ribs by John Mucha during a ride. The incident led to the car hitting a tree and injuries to Bellows.
