Hobby Says He Will Call Third Session
Acting Governor Hobby authorized a third Texas legislative session to convene Friday to avoid $25 000 mileage for lawmakers. He hinted university bills may be submitted if the House stalls this session and noted Senate support for repealing or shaping laws creating state institutions including West Texas A M College and several normal schools. The Senate meets tomorrow and may prompt Hobby to act on the requested bills and appropriations.

Commissioned Men Tendered Banquet at Cameron
The Cameron commissioned officers were honored Tuesday evening August twenty third at the Auditorium Hotel. Guests were seated in the hotel lobby before being led to the dining room where the Star Spangled Banner played. Toasts on the war were given by Rev Blaylock and others with toastmaster Sam Hearrell. The room displayed red white and blue decor with President Wilson portrait above a large flag. A three course menu featured fish chipped potatoes olives celery salted peanuts iced tea mint lemon broiled chicken on toast asparagus ribbon potatoes tea biscuits red white and blue ice cream cake. Honored lieutenants were Lloyd Mitchell Jeff Hefley Jr Lee Sens Jim Baskin and Albert Gillon.

Austin Texas August 28 An other shipment of 10000 number plates for automobiles is expected within the next few days by the state highway commission and will be distributed immediately upon reaching here, bringing total to 20000 numbers received. With about 200000 motor vehicles in Texas more numbers are needed and full supply will take a month or six weeks. Hundreds of requests daily seek information on when numbers will be available.
