Dry weather quickens Milam cotton harvest in 1929
Grover C. Albert reports 3019 bales ginned from the 1929 crop in Milam County versus 1012 bales in 1928 for the same period. Dry hot weather has cotton opening early, stalks small, and yield under last year by about 50 000 bales, roughly 50 percent normal with prices around 15 50 guiding expectations for a price rise after a government release.
