The 115 member Yee High School band and The Cameron Herald kickoff a three week subscription drive in Cameron starting September 8. The band earns 50 percent on new Herald subscriptions and 40 percent on renewals and magazines, funds going to trips and contests. Awards will honor top salespeople.

County Toll Now 8 2 Die In Separate Traffic Mishaps
Two crashes within 24 hours push county traffic fatalities to eight for the year. James L. Reese, 44, of Gause, died at Scott & White Hospital after a pickup and a tractor-trailer collided on Highway 79. Wanda Davis Thrasher, 18, of Rockdale, died at the scene when her 1969 Chevrolet overturned near the Alcoa turnoff on 79, possibly due to a blowout.

Milano High announces new student registration Thursday, others Friday at 1 30 p.m. Buckholts sets 8 20 a.m. start with 2 30 p.m. dismissal first three weeks. Thorndale woman pleads guilty in murder case
Dorine Ware of Thorndale admitted guilt to the February 1 1977 murder of Jo Vance Roberson. Judge Don G. Humble suspended the ten year sentence and placed her on ten years supervised probation with $107.50 court costs and a $10 monthly supervision fee. Marion Campbell Jr. had his 25 year sentence for rape overruled on appeal.
