Henry Abel of Sharp reports a rare event as his eight year old Jersey cow gave birth to four calves on Wednesday August 15 after labor from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. A stillborn calf and a possibly strangled third calf were confirmed by a veterinarian. The surviving trio, two heifers and one bull, weighed about thirty pounds each. Abel bought the dam with calf in 1953, later producing twins then a single before the quad birth.
