Milam County to join SOS Sabin vaccine drive Sept 9

Milam County residents will travel to Cameron and Rockdale September 9 for a 30 second SOS drive to inoculate about 15 400 cups of Sabin oral vaccine at three Cameron centers. Dr C G Swift named SOS committee chairmen and listed site, registration, and traffic roles for the five hour drive from 1 50 p m to 6 p m Sunday September 9.

Milam County National Guard Mustered Out

Milam County's 60 National Guardsmen were mustered out after active duty from last October due to the Berlin Crisis. A Cameron ceremony included speeches, music by Yee High Band, and a reception. The unit will resume drills Sunday, August 26 after final returns and state-control adjustments.

Quarterbacks Plan First Fall Meet for Monday Night

The Cameron Quarterback Club soon to be Yeemen Booster Club will hold its first fall meeting at 7 30 p m Monday in the Yee High School Agriculture Building. Officials say the meeting starts promptly to allow viewing part of the first evening's football work out at Yee Field from 7 to 9 pm. Members will consider adopting the constitution and by laws and discuss season football sales and purchase of intersection signs for home contests.

Roberts Announces Parent's Night at Yoe Gym

Yoe head coach John Roberts said parents night will be held at the Yoe gym at 8 p m Saturday. Varsity football players will take a 6 30 p m physical in the gym. The program begins with 25 minutes of refreshments and meetings with coaches and parents followed by health, equipment, and philosophy discussions. A equipment display and gym tour are planned led by the coaches.

The Cameron Independent School Board held a regular meeting and awarded contracts for 1982 43 to Humble On and Refining for gasoline oil and grease for bus operation, Mack's Oil Co for bus maintenance service wash lubrication and tire service, Pure Milk Company for milk and ice cream for lunchrooms, Rainbo Bread Co for bread.
