Old Time Rally Planned in Cameron City Park
U.S. Rep John Carter and State Rep Dan Gattis headline an Old Time Rally in Historic City Park on Aug 26 hosted by Milam County Republicans. Gates open 6:30 p.m. with free hot dogs lemonade and ice cream at the pavilion. Yee High Band to perform patriotic music. Gattis will give a legislative update and Carter will recap national affairs.

Churches rally to collect school supplies in Cameron
Cameron First United Methodist Church and Grace Church organize drives to aid area children in need. Grace Church invites donations or referrals for children needing supplies, with office contact at 697-2410. First Methodist accepts donations through Aug 16 at the sanctuary or church office. A blessing of the backpacks is planned at Sunday service.

Milam Community Theater seeks actors for On Golden Pond
Auditions for the Milam Community Theatre production On Golden Pond are set for 7 p.m. Monday August 31 and Tuesday September at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron. Director Richard Stone notes a four men two women and a teenage boy cast with Norman and Ethel Thayer as central roles. Rehearsals begin September 14 for shows November 7 8 14 and 15.
