Lions Sponsor Scholarship for Cameron VHS Graduates

Cameron Lions Club president Tom Boyd announced an annual scholarship for a Yee High School graduate to be funded by the Cameron Lions. The group also contributed $100 to the Texas Lions Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville. Frank Pinkerton urged dairying growth and outlined its economic impact on Cameron Millam County. First scholarship presentation is planned for May 1962.

Two Auto Accidents Cause $875 Damage and One Injury

Two crashes early this week caused about $875 in vehicle damage and slight injuries to a young passenger. At 12:38 a.m. Sunday Oswald Lee Young and Lure Tabor collided at 707 Emancipation, injuring Louis Tabor Jr. The other crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. Saturday at E. 12th Street and North Jackson involving Melvin Lee Rivers and Suzanne Lippman with damage to both cars and no injuries.

August Draft Call To Be Four Men In Milam County

The Milam draft quota for August is four men, said Mrs. Albert Slovak, secretary of the Milam Draft Board. Texas’ overall quota rose from 345 to 561 after Congress approved a larger Armed Forces, about 250 000 more. The August call will target the 24 year old bracket and those 23 years old may be called. A larger September call is anticipated due to plans for a bigger Army. Since 1958 inductees averaged two per month.

Yoe Season Tickets On Sale August 3

Season football tickets go on sale at the Superintendent's office at Ben Milam School on August 3. The tickets cover all Yoemen home games and last year's holders have until August 12 to reclaim seats.
