Auditors To Be Appointed Biannually In Large Counties
The plan applies to counties with populations over 35 000 or tax valuations above 15 000 000. Auditors would be appointed every two years by the district judge or judges. The auditor’s salary would be set by the judges and paid from the county general fund. A 5 000 bond would be filed by the auditor payable to the district judge. Senator Shireman says the bill removes the auditor from the commissioners court.
