Folk Fete ‘73 Plans Move Forward At Armory
Planning for the Folk Fete 1973 advances at the National Guard Armory with plans for 14 ethnic food booths and five out of town dance groups. A new director, Mrs Marcelino Flores, was appointed as committees report progress for a two day event featuring a Queen beauty contest parade moonwalk and numerous attractions. Lions Club to run arts and crafts exhibitions while chairs and tables are prepared for the armory. Pete Kunz chairs the board with Charles Handle L W Stroup and others in key roles.

Cameron voters returned one incumbent and elected two new school trustees in the election. Forrest Sapp was re elected with 230 votes. In Rogers City the mayor Bob Persky was elected unopposed with 128 votes. City council seats went to Lloyd Ezzell 88 and Walter McChrystal 60, Elmer Don Williams 41, Lloyd Warwick 25, Bill Reid 13, and Dean Gommert unopposed for the one year post with 97 votes. In Rosebud Clarence Wolf was re elected mayor with 134 of 156 votes, unopposed. Henry Vickers 102 votes and R J Brannon 116 were elected to the aldermen. John Sampson 80 votes. A Cameron volunteer fire department responded to the Ehler home fire at about 6:05 Saturday, fire from a deep fat fryer. smoke damaged kitchen and living room.

Services Held For John Henderson Sr.
John B. Henderson Sr. 74 died Sunday in a Temple hospital after a short illness. A Cameron native, he was a property manager WWI veteran and member of San Andres Masonic Lodge 170 Little River Chapter Council and Karem Shrine in Waco. He led church activities at First United Methodist Cameron and served as trustee, superintendent, and past Worshipful Master. He chaired several boards including Milam County School Board and Cameron Housing Authority and led Milam County Democratic Executive Committee. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Cameron with burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by wife, son John B. Henderson Jr., daughter Jane Henderson Hallberg, foster daughter Mattari Hale, two sisters, and four grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.

Cameron police and highway patrolmen investigated seven accidents on Friday. One major crash near Highway 190 left Ft Hood soldier Lawrence E Colvard with a fractured skull and his transfer to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The truck involved burned total loss. firemen battled the blaze.
