The Favorite Dry Goods advertises a closing sale of Nelsons fine shoes and a large selection of dress goods clothing shoes hats and gents furnishings. It promises value with a big line of hats plow shoes and overalls plus guaranteed goods and prices and an offer to rectify any mishap.
The Dallas county grand jury found witnesses who voted up to four times at different boxes for $5 each and were told repeats were lawful. The report warns that money influence and hoodlum tactics threaten Texas politics and honest public service across counties, urging a halt to prevent further decay.
Memorial services will be held at Val Verde Baptist Church on Saturday April 26 1902 starting 9:30 a.m. with singing led by A J Liles and J N Griffin. Rev L W Preddy opens, J A Townsend gives an essay, E N Lewis talks ten minutes, Miss Fannie Nealey recites, Rev Ed Thompson speaks fifteen minutes, Miss Ella Jones recites, Rev J N Dyer speaks ten minutes, Miss Beulah Bradshaw recites, Elder Rhodes delivers an 11 a.m. sermon from Cavilla, P M Watts speaks ten minutes at 1:30 p.m., Master Tom Doby recites, Rev W Alexander speaks ten minutes, B Jones, and closing address by Elder J A Lincoln.
The Herald announces a meeting for all interested in Salem Cemetery to gather Friday April 18 to work the grounds and attend to graves. Attendees should arrive early.
Last Tuesday 4 pm the Cameron City Council met in called session to install new officers approve bonds and handle council business. Mayor and aldermen present with Hooke and Ruby absent. Bonds for Boyles Beaty Kidd approved or awaiting acknowledgment. new officials sworn in. Committees named and city journal chosen with printing contract to Herald.
The Little Folks announces a hat show on April 25 at Mrs Roberts for misses and children. Preview features many beautiful hats at reasonable prices and invites the public to view the collection.
In our village news Mrs. Robert Moreland reports adjourned meetings and a steady corn stand while farmers urge rain. A special prayer service at the Baptist church for rain drew a good crowd ahead of regular Wednesday gatherings.
