Research from the United States Department of Agriculture reports a new wood treatment called uralloy. Soaking wood in urea and heating makes it bend and hold shapes, with thermo setting using formaldehyde and other chemicals to permanently set the wood. The result is stiffer, harder, and more water resistant wood with plastics like behavior.
The report shows per capita dairy intake rising 16 percent from 1909 10 to 1937 41 and dairy accounting for 23 percent of foods versus 20 percent earlier. Milk prices grew 20 percent, milk farm income up 92 percent while total farm income rose 44 percent. Total food consumption stayed near prior levels as wheat and potatoes fell while fruits vegetables and dairy rose.
Linseed meal is the by product of extracting flax seed oil. Old process meals come from crushing and pressing using hydraulic pressure or screw expellers and contain about 5 to 6 percent oil and 31 to 34 percent protein. New process meals use solvent extraction yielding about 1 to 2 percent oil and 35 to 37 percent protein.
