Last week’s Record reports a strenuous drive to secure required stock subscriptions this week, with optimism that the Farmers’ Co operative Store for Camden may become a living reality rather than a dream. Early skeptics recalled the venture’s beginnings in Camden and Rockfield.
In Horse Sense last week the piece warns rats may kill hundreds of spring chicks. It suggests rat-proofing with mesh wire and sheet metal. Some raisers will take precautions, others not, risking loss and a dismissive expletive: Rats.

The Camden youths, mostly school students under the direction of Prof. Lawson of Logansport, have shown notable talent in a short training period. They have already appeared publicly and earned audience applause. The community is urged to give full approval and support.
The Camden Sunshine club elected Esther Ringer as president Myra Witter as vice president Margaret Hunt as treasurer Ruth Snipes as corresponding secretary Virginia Simmons as recording secretary and Doris Britton as scrap book chair man The club named Doris Britton and Esther Ringer as delegates to the state meeting at Martinsville in April.
Carroll County American War Mothers chapter holds its regular monthly meeting Tuesday March 10 at the home of Mrs. Kk I Kirkpatrick in Delphi. A cooperative noon dinner precedes a business session and members are asked to bring needle and thimble plus table service.
Township assessors gathered Saturday in the office of county assessor Orvil Schock to organize IMaT preparations. A letter from Mrs Clera Lenon of Portland Oregon thanks the Camden Record-News for weekly notices and encloses a 1.50 money order to renew her subscription through 1931. She recalls childhood days in the city and praises the home paper as a welcome guest every Tuesday.

The Tri-Township Young People’s Meeting was held Tuesday evening March 3 at the Baptist church. The program included songs Let Jesus Come Into Your Heart Loyalty to Christ and Have Thine Own Way Lord, scripture read by Julia Randolph and Catherine Brechbiel, addresses by Mrs. Florence Biker and Rev. Kahl, with Harold Price Truman Spitler and Robert Sanderson among the participants. Camden Lutheran Sunday School won the attendance banner.
Deloris Ellen Marshall four years old of Mishawaka died Sunday from measles. Rev. W. A. Bender conducted her funeral at the Christian church in Burrows Tuesday at 10 AM. This is the second measles death in the family with one week between deaths. The two remaining children are sick with heavy colds.
Miss Clarise Wise hosted the Standard Bearers of the M. E. church Monday night at her west town home. Esther Ringer, president, presided. Clarise Wise led devotionals and Mrs. Ray Quinn gave the lesson. Boys of the Sunday School were special guests.
The church held 9:30 Sunday School led by Superintendent Manfor Welf and 10:30 Junior Congregation plus 10:45 Morning Worship with an Evening Service at 7:00. Frances Wolf delivered the Daniel story with an excellent orchestra. the Sunday school grows, Lent sermons continue, and a call to worship Christ of God is issued.
Washington Hoosier Burr Balser, postmaster for Delphi, was named by President Hoover as Indiana postmaster nominee without opposition. The appointment received hearty approval from Delphi citizens amid a list of other Indiana nominees. Emerson Everett and family of Bringhurst visited their mother, Mrs Lenna Sibbitt, Sunday.

The Jackson Township Economics Club will meet at Mrs. Effie Snoeberger’s home on Thursday afternoon March 12. Members include Mary Mills Alta Bohannon Nah Caldwell and Anna Bohannon. An auction sale of beans and seeds will follow the session. bring pencil and paper.

Mrs Ella Plank hosted a Surfday fish dinner for her family in honor of Percy Plank's twenty first wedding anniversary and Stella's fifteenth wedding anniversary. Truman's birthday was celebrated as well as everyone enjoying ample fish and excitement.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Coy editors of the Delphi Citizen announce the birth of a son born at Coleman hospital in Indianapolis on Sunday. The couple has named the child Stephen Cady.
The Literary club met with Mrs. Helen Snell Tuesday evening. Members answered roll call with Indiana and novelists discussed. Mrs. Ray Quinn presented a paper titled Philadelphia and its Art Leaders. Several reports on current events were read.
The Camden business community gathered Monday night at the Paden Cafe where Frank Barber spoke on postwar cooperation and community spirit. Joe Vurpillat was elected temporary chairman and G. de Baker secretary as members expressed optimism about improved farm enterprises and a stronger agricultural economy.
Carroll county communities see numerous relocations as the annual spring move reshuffles families. Claude and Mellinger relocate to a Danville area farm. Elder Bowman moves into the Mellinger home. the Mellingers sell to William Martin. Brookshire moves to Pittsburg. Starkeys take over the Hail Mummert place near Rockfield. Starkeys transfer from the Allie May place to Michael McGreevey farm near Burrows. Willard Voach rents the May farm. Walter Cain moves to the John Hella day farm near Delphi. Walter Ellis and family relocate to the Davidson farm.
Helen Yeakley of Deer Creek High School won first place in Division 1 at the county Latin contest held Saturday. Pauline Odell took second place with two township contestants also competing. The Carroll County representatives will advance to the district contest in Lebanon on March 14.
Charles Preston, nine years old and from Camden, now living in Chicago, won a twenty five dollar violin prize for his music work. He visited his grandparents Mr and Mrs Charles Spitler during a weekend return.
Dr Cherington argues the rural press will resist subsidizing or purchasing newspapers for anti prohibition campaigns. He notes around 15 000 capital editors influence wets coverage, but rural editors remain steadfast to prohibition and stand against liquor propaganda.
The Carroll County Clerk reports 45 loan applications filed since Saturday under the new veterans bonus law amid a high-volume rush. Veterans bureau processing uses regional offices with a one year renewable note, bonus certificate, and transfers between offices as needed. Expected first-call loan total around 20 million nationally and over 100 thousand for Carroll County. Clerk Floyd Julien credited for his effort aiding veterans.
An old fashioned quilting bee was hosted by Mrs John Horn east of town on February 26 with attendees including Mrs Owen Crip e Mrs Nerbert Cree Mrs Yom Linn Mrs Charles Appleton Mrs George Judy Mrs Ed Cripe Mrs US Gardner Mrs Henry Cree Mrs Net Horn and Mrs Nannie Richter. The gathering yielded a pleasant afternoon and several quilting dots for Mrs Horn.

It outlines a full Holy Week schedule starting May 22 with two to three evenings of prayer and preaching, stressing community support and salvation.
