J. W. Beott, a Purdue junior and ROTC member, is among 172 students at Fort Knox Kentucky undergoing six weeks of training starting June 19. The program teaches firing and drill tactics to prepare them as commanding officers in the Purdue Corps on return to campus.
The Monroe township Happy-Go-Lucky 4-H Club met at Vada Nimmine’s home on June 15 with demonstrations. The next meeting is at Doria and Marjorie Jordan’s home on June 29 at 2 00. There will be no Sunday School at the M E Church. meet at 9 30 to depart for Battle Ground.
Robert Dunkiss traveled to Vin cennes on business this week. Earl Myer hosts Friendly Bible class of Lower Deer Church. John W Crips of Flora, recently very ill, remains at low ebb as of press time. The Coplen family visited Russiaville. Marjorie Jean Shanks stayed with cousin Madeline Burkhart in Logansport. Floyd Sink and family joined John Max and Margaret Dunkin in Indianapolis. A group including Harry Wilson Harold Jones and M W Dillon visited D I Payton family this Sunday. Mrs John Wise returned home from St Elisabeth hospital Lafayette after a three week stay following major surgery.
