Richard Simmons 59 dies at home in Deer Creek Township

Richard A. Simmons, 59, former professional baseball outfielder for Chattanooga and Atlanta Southern League teams, died Wednesday morning at his Deer Creek Township home. Survived by widow Tennie, three sons John Detroit, Robert Kokomo, Cecil at home, two daughters Virginia Brown and Louella, five grandchildren, two sisters Minnie Dotson and Mary Fifer, all in Tennessee. Born August 24, 1884 in Spencer.

Former Prominent Man Died Last Friday

Edward L. Dock of Logansport died at 4 45 Friday morning at his home. Born April 5 1854 near here he was active in Lutheran churches for 68 years and connected with St Luke's English Lutheran in Logansport for 43 years. He leaves a daughter Mrs Clara Seneider of Logansport a son Frank of Springfield Ohio a sister Miss Mina Dock a grandson and several nieces and nephews. His wife Mary died in 1935 and a sister Mrs Sarah Culler died four weeks ago. Funeral services were Monday at 2 pm at St Luke's Lutheran Logansport with Rev G Charles Goering officiating. burial in Mt Hope cemetery.
