Farm tips and market notes from agricultural columns
Cauliflower does best in Indiana as a fall crop. If you can't spray the whole tree, don't spray any of it. If your fruit tree doesn't bear don't drive nails in it. Look for the cause and start early spring pigs toward the September market by creep feeding. Low poultry and egg prices require efficient breeding for profit. Thorough spraying or dusting insures pest control on the potato and boosts yield. Certified potato seed averages seventy bushels per acre more than ordinary seed. Skim milk can be fed to poultry, both sweet and sour, with no harm. Work horses need ample water, especially before feeding. When removing engine valves, drill holes in a board to avoid mismarking. A burrito valve from a punch mark can overheat and cause pre-ignition. Farmers marketing directly to consumers may avoid high services by handling steps themselves.
