Mrs. Fred C. Smith of Delphi reports the death of Libby Florence Powell Heimark widow of Dr. A J. Heimark in Fargo North Dakota. Born at Rockfield about 60 years ago she was daughter of Dr. John W Powell and Sarah Roop Powell and descendant of physicians including grandfather Dr John E Powell who came from London in 1861. She leaves a daughter Phyllis Braden of Denver and a son Harding Heimark of St Cloud plus a brother Dr Clarence Powell of Valeir Montana.

Maxwells Host Oyster Supper for Faye Maxwell Birthday

Maxwell family and guests gathered east of Camden Friday for an oyster supper honoring Faye Maxwell who heads to St. Louis for hospital care. The event also celebrated three grandchildren birthdays Dean January fifth Joan January sixth and Kenneth January eighth with three cakes and a handkerchief shower for Faye.

Last Will of Isaac Cohee Filed for Probate in Carroll Court

The last will of Isaac Cohee of Washington township has been filed in Carroll circuit court in vacation. It leaves all real estate and property to his two children Anna Seward and Luther Cohee in equal shares, with Charles Cohee named as a beneficiary in a sum of $8,000. Wayne Hinkle serves as attorney for the estate.

Indianapolis Symphony Plans Twelve January Concerts

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra under Fabien Sevitzky schedules twelve January performances at Murat Theater. Highlights include Wagner, McClosky’s all Wagner program on January 10, a January 12 afternoon concert with pianist Alfred Mirovitch, and Abram Chasins performing Mozart and Gershwin with other classics and the world premiere of Benjamin's Prelude to Holiday. Drawings Set for Carroll County Tournament at Flora

Carroll County basketball tournament drawings were held at Flora on January 6. The event starts Thursday January 16 at the Flora gym and runs through Saturday with the championship game. Officials Lowry of Walton and Mertz of Converse were selected. Pairings include Burlington vs Deer Creek and Flora vs Cutler on Thursday.

Community Program to Honor Guards at Delphi Armory

On Monday evening January 13 at 8:00 the Carroll County Community Program honors the Delphi National Guard Company the 51st Infantry and volunteers heading to training next week. The American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps will perform and other community groups will contribute numbers. Legion Posts of Delphi and Flora will attend in a body. The event is free and open to the public.

Mrs. Margaret Harter Dies After Year Long Illness

Mrs. Margaret M. Harter 57 died Monday morning at St Josephs hospital after a yearlong illness. Funeral at Flora Christian church Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev W Hays Miller officiating. She is survived by husband Reuben a daughter Mary Jane a son in law a brother and a step sister. Burial in Maple Lawn cemetery.

Miss A Raber daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Raber Camden and Raymond McClure Jr son of Mr and Mrs Raymond McClure Sr Logansport were wed in a single ring ceremony at 8 PM New Year’s Eve at Rev W A Bender’s Logansport home. Carroll Students Win Places in Purdue Musical Groups

Six Carroll county students are among over 300 Purdue University enrollees to win spots in campus musical organizations after a series of tryouts. Selected from about 1,000 applicants, they join groups such as the University Choir, Concert Choir, Purdue Glee Club, and University Orchestra. Plans Made for Work for Conscientious Objectors

National Directors report a cooperative program under the Selective Service Act to place conscientious objectors in soil conservation and reforestation work. The plan uses CCC and state or national forest camps, with supervision by the Selective Service System and execution by federal agencies. The project aims to test a nationwide effort with conferences among the President, Agriculture, Interior, Social Security, and the National Council for Conscientious Objectors.

Volunteers Leave for Service Tuesday in Carroll County

Five Carroll county Selective Service trainees will depart Delphi at 11 a m Tuesday January 14 for Indianapolis for induction examination. Herman Theophile clerk of the Selective Service Board announced seven youths have volunteered, with five to be chosen and announced Saturday. Trainees should notify employers and report to the board at 9 a m on departure day.如果拒绝 at Fort Benjamin Harrison they will be sent home and replaced. Theophile said no February call is planned for the county.
