Americans and people from 41 other nations join the annual Christmas Seals drive to raise funds for tuberculosis defense. Since 1907 the program has cut deaths from 179 to 54 per 100000 by 1935, yet about 70,000 die yearly in the U S and TB remains the leading killer of ages 15 to 45.

Carroll Winners At Livestock Show
Hoosier 4-H club members won honors at the International Livestock Exposition Junior corn growers from Decatur County led nine states in the special showing at the 4-H club congress. Willard Bainbridge and others from Greensburg night school exhibited the winning entry. Purdue teams scored well in horse cattle sheep and swine judging while top corn yields were earned by Snoeberger and Har ness. The Indiana corn growers association will present awards at Purdue University on January 10. Cathleen Yerkes of Camden won a blue ribbon for three types of canned meats.

Sylvester T. Gueckien, 77, a wealthy retired stock farmer and land owner, was found dead in his bed at his Washington township farm by his daughter Eleanor at 7 am from a heart attack. Survived by widow Mary, four sons Hayes William Daniel Charles, daughter Eleanor, three sisters, and funeral services were held at St. Vincent's Church with burial in St. Vincent's Cemetery.
