Youth division honors listed. posters due August 20 at Flora Public Library.
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Rieken hosted a Sunday luncheon for forty five relatives at their North Illinois Street home Monticello. Guests included Ben Leslie and family, Helen Metzger and son, Howard Williams from South Bend, Jess Markey and daughter, Joe Morlock family, August Huge and Ply mouth relatives, and numerous Leslie and Gertz family members. Activities featured miniature golf at the Lilli Put Links and social time.
The Delphi Legioneers sponsor a ten day outing for Knights town orphans. Commander Fred Bassett and Lee Shaffer took twelve children to the home last Tuesday and arranged care with Legion members. Citizens offer to assist with money or supplies to brighten the orphans stay in Delphi.
Two men, Carl Eikenberry of Flora and C D Lyon of South Bend, were injured when a Flora truck overturned Monday at 9 30 near the Carrollton bridge two miles north of town. Eikenberry was thrown clear with a sprained back while Lyon was pinned beneath the vehicle with cuts and bruises. Both injuries were not serious and the truck was badly damaged.
In loving memory of Donald Bruce Wallace who passed away ten years ago. Sad and sudden was the call, dearly loved by one and all. His memory is as sweet today as in the hour he passed away. His loving father, mother, sister Mr and Mrs J B Wallace and daughter.

J. E. Myers, 70, of Flora, stepped from a car at the Auto Hotel Tuesday night and walked into a grease pit, fracturing his right hip. He was taken to Cass county hospital where X rays confirmed the fracture and his condition was reported as serious Tuesday night.

Mrs Amanda Snyder attended a joint birthday party for her sister Mrs John L Johnson and her son Robert at Flora last Monday. Mrs Johnson aged eighty five enjoys good health while Robert Johnson aged sixty one hosted the gathering with most of their children and grandchildren present. A cooperative dinner was served and guests wished many such happy occasions.
The Tuesday night event in Camden attracted many youths and visitors from nearby towns. The dance was well received and the next gathering is scheduled for Tuesday August 19.
Next Sunday August 17 marks Home Coming Day at the Lower Deer Creek church. The program includes addresses short talks special music and a basket dinner. Pastor L L Paul invites all to attend.
Mrs Florencé Coble began duties as county attendance officer after a county board of education meeting in Delphi. She is a Delphi High School graduate of 1917 and taught three years in Rock Creek township. The Teachers Institute meets August 26 to 28 at Delphi prior to school opening after Labor Day.
Mrs Ralph Maggart hosted a 8:30 am breakfast at her home west of Camden. The decor featured flowers and greenery. Bridge honors went to Mrs Earl Thompson of Delphi and Mrs James Sharp. Guests included Mrs Russell Cripe of Glendale Calif Mrs W C Parker of Detroit and several from Camden.
Carroll county youths organize a grand picnic and vesper service at Flora Community Park on Sunday evening August 24. Mary Hawkins of Flora and Mark Garrison of Carrollton township lead as superintendent and president of the third district young peoples organization. The event features a cooperative supper and invites every area youth to attend.
Old Settlers day in Delphi was observed at City Park with pioneers from across Carroll County, as John Todd led the association meeting. Mrs Catherine Schermerhorn Brackenridge was elected president for the coming year. awards for best old time costume went to Mrs Charles Gros, Mrs Warren Messick, and Miss Flora Wharton.
